Female Anatomy Digram

Giving Voice

Stables Naples, Padua, April 2, 2010

After meetings with Maurizio and Marco Baliani Agostinetto , trainer of the third project What am I doing here? , Myrtle Baliani , accompanied the artists to explore their sonic potential.

Based on simple physical exercises and music, the group is the exploration of that world of sounds and noises that make up the mixer heritage "of each of us: lullabies, nursery rhymes, chimes, echoes that come from the depths of memory and that, although it seems to have forgotten them, remain on, under the skin, and re-emerge bringing with colors and smells of our past.

Day after day, through progressively more complex exercises, the children have acquired a growing awareness of the potential of that powerful tool that can be their voice fact, your body , that can turn anything into a rhythm. Then an alarm, an audio tape hoarse, a clothesline, a whistle, they can become old friends, wind, a storm far away, a terrible wait.

may become music.

This week has been a great inspiration for the group, also in view of the final performance that is being created step by step, waiting to present it in July in the city.
In addition to helping to provide interesting ideas to children, to direct them some way towards cleaner idea of \u200b\u200bwhat that will do, certainly this part of the workshop enriched them, a richness that basically had always just had to be polished.

Interview with Myrtle Baliani

Stables Naples, Padua, March 29, 2010

Actor, musician, composer, painter, engineer and graphic Myrtle Baliani, is an example of creative fusion between different artistic expressions. In this interview Myrtle explains how he makes his workshop entitled "Giving Voice .

The focus of his laboratory with the boys of " What am I doing here? " was both their vocal and musical expression, both on the recovery of sounds from the past history of each (lullabies forgotten recordings of elders, the sound of the wind, or litany heard in church). There are sounds that are common to the community, while others are peculiar to individuals.

Alternating tension between individual and group- has characterized this workshop culminated in a musical-theater performance. In the group, the voices and sounds and movements of the boys were done in a uniform and coordinated as part of one collective entity. From time to time an individual detached itself and show your piece of the past sound, and then return to the group. In a few moments the group interacted with the individual, imitating, supporting or opposing his individual performance.

This powerful performance active references to metaphors of real life. Individuals, in their being in the world are constantly influenced by others, groups, from society, so to lose their identity . Often to understand and express themselves in the world must move away from the others, have the courage to show their individuality, through acts of artistic, social or political originals. The community reaction to these expressions of individual freedom may be for approval or criticism. He

individual to choose whether to take the risk.
